In celebration of King David Schools’ 70th anniversary, we will be hosting a 5km walk/run within the Johannesburg Zoo, followed by a breakfast picnic on the Bandstand lawn. This walk/run is open to all King David students, across all ages, their families, teachers, staff and alumni, provided they are in good health.

Johannesburg Zoo (Upper Park Drive, Parkview)


07h30 sharp. 5km Run or Walk. Don’t be late. Gates open from 06h00


R50 per person (children under 3 free), includes parking within the Zoo grounds in the general public parking lot along Upper Park Drive


Access to the Zoo will only be allowed with an official KD wild walk & run wristband which will be handed out at the Zoo, before the walk/run. BE THERE EARLY TO COLLECT YOUR WRISTBANDS AT THE ZOO! NO WRISTBAND, NO ENTRY!!


Bring your own picnic blanket and breakfast picnic basket and spend the morning with us after the walk/run (There will be a secure area on the Bandstand Lawn to lay your blanket and basket while you are walking/running).

Vitality Points: Earn up to 800 Discovery Vitality points for every adult who walks or runs (T’s & C’s apply)


Secure, free parking is available at the Zoo for King David Wild Walk & Run entrants. Please park in the new general public parking lot. The entrance is along Upper Park Drive. Free Parking will only be available from 06h00 – 10h30. Thereafter normal parking charges will apply.

Collection of wristbands will be on Sunday 25 February 2018 at the Johannesburg Zoo from 06h00. Wristbands are essential to enter the zoo. No wristband, No entry.

The CSO will be ensuring the safety of all participants within the confines of the Johannesburg Zoo.  The route itself will be well signposted and marshalled.  There will be medical facilities available should the need arise.  All Emergency Services as well as the Police services have been notified of the event.

Yes.  You can enter up to 9 people on one entry submission.  Please ensure that the correct details are entered per entrant.

Each adult over 18 who walks or runs will receive up to 800 Discovery Vitality points. After the walk/run, a list will be submitted by the walk organizers and Discovery Vitality will issue the points. This can take up to 6 weeks. T’s & C’s apply.

Yes, there will be a water point and water will be handed out to all walkers/runners. Coldrinks, coffee and food will be available to purchase in the bandstand area.

Yes, there will be Kosher food to purchase in the bandstand area as well as in the Zoo itself.

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own picnic baskets and drinks. All picnic baskets must be tagged with the allocated security band for safety. The security bands will be handed out on the day of the event from 06h00. No braais are allowed in the Zoo.
